ℹ️ About
-
Save S13 green belt is a grassroots community campaign dedicated to protecting the precious green spaces in Sheffield's S13 area — particularly those at risk from large-scale housing developments proposed under the city's Local Plan.
❓Why we're here
-
The Sheffield Local Plan includes proposals to remove Green Belt protections from several sites across the city, including significant areas in S13.
Notably, the SES30 site is earmarked for 868 new homes, while the nearby SES29 site proposes 870 homes.
Combined, these developments raise serious concerns about traffic congestion, infrastructure strain, and the loss of vital green spaces.
🤝 What We Stand For
-
We believe that green belt land should be preserved for future generations.
Green belt provide essential benefits, including:
🐾 Natural habitats for wildlife
☀️ Spaces for recreation and mental well-being
🛡️ Protection against urban sprawl
♻️ Opportunities for sustainable urban planningOur campaign advocates for the use of brownfield sites and more equitable distribution of housing developments across Sheffield, rather than concentrating them in areas like S13.
