Consultation period
WE NEED YOU!
The public consultation on the Local Plan is open from Mon May 26th until 5pm, Fri July 11th.
â¸ī¸ Pause: before you submit your objection, please read below - these are just suggestions - you don't HAVE to do all or any of them.
An example representation form from the council can be found on this page.
- đ Read Saphire's FAQs and Sadie's explanation of the process.
- đ Look at the Sheffield Plan and its goals and think about building on our green belt contradicts the council's policies and announcements.
- đ¤ Think about how the proposals will affect our health care services, roads, air quality and school places.
- đ Use data and statistics if you can.
- âģī¸ If you sent an email of objection to the council (one you personally wrote) reuse it, with any additional new information you have to support your argument.
- đŗ Think about what the purpose of green belt is and how these plans go against it.
- đĻ The Environment Act (2021) specifies the requirement for a minimum 10% Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) in new developments from 12 February 2024 onwards. Will the development of these sites add more or less biodiversity?
- đŖī¸ Consider attending a Sunday drop-in session or the public consultation meeting in June with Clive Betts and the government's planning inspectors to become more informed.
- đĢ Find out how other areas have had plans to build on green belt overturned.
- đ Read at Wharncliffeside's arguments for their site
- đˇ Donate to the GoFundMe so experts can do what we may not be able to.
- đ¨ You must submit an objection in the consultation period in order to have the right to present evidence and appear at the public hearings in the autumn.
- â Objections can be handwritten, but typed is preferred.
- â Anyone - including non-S13 residents - can submit an objection to the inclusion of S13 green belt in the plan.
- â There is no lower age limit to making an objection: children can also object to the loss of their open space.
- â
Some evidence can't be gathered due to the timing of the consultation. For instance, the football season has ended so there are no weekend matches on the fields at Flockton Park, directly opposite SES30, which cause traffic issues.
For cases like this, it's ok submit the comments and statements that you feel represents your view.
There are three ways to submit an objection
An template representation form from the council can be found on this page.
-
đŠ Email the completed template to Sheffield Plan.
You can reuse any emails or information you previously sent to our MP or councillors.
-
đģ Use the online portal and clicking 'Survey'.
WE DO NOT RECOMMEND USING THIS METHOD: The site only allows an objection to one aspect of the plan, the site often crashes, and you may lose your submission while entering it.
You will need to register on the Have Your Say Sheffield website to use the portal.
