New Consultation Responses
⭐ Why we’ve created these responses
These responses are designed to help you respond quickly and confidently to the new Local Plan consultation.
Take a look at the new consultation FAQs - they explain the new consultation in more detail
During the recent Local Plan hearings, Sheffield City Council admitted that over 100 evidence documents were published late - some not until November, when the hearings were ending. Therefore, the council have opened a new, three-week consultation for over 70 of those late documents.
This puts a huge burden on residents. Many of these documents are long, technical and difficult to understand - and objections must refer directly to the specific document they relate to.
To make this easier for everyone in S13, we’ve prepared a set of simple, easy-to-use objection response. You can:
- Download a response, add your name, postcode and any personal comments
- Email it to the Council, or
- Print it and drop it off at one of our local collection points
Or if you prefer, you can simply send an email objection using the suggested wording - you don’t need to attach a document if you don’t want to.
Every objection counts. Please submit yours before the deadline.
The Deadline is 5pm, Thursday 11 December.
⭐ Available Responses
Below are the reponses available for download. Each one corresponds to a specific document in the new consultation and includes clear wording that meets the Inspectors’ requirements.
- 1. Layout and Access Concerns (EXAM 168)
The layout plan for SES30 raises multiple concerns around site access, traffic impacts and internal design. This response explains why the layout fails to address key issues raised by residents during earlier stages of the Plan.
👉 Download Response 1 (EXAM 168) - 2. Missing and Incomplete Ecology Data (EXAM 175)
New ecology information was published extremely late, and several important habitats, hedgerows and trees have not been properly assessed - including veteran trees and features of County-level significance. This response highlights these omissions clearly.
👉 Download Response 2 (EXAM 175) - 3. Unrealistic Housing Capacity and Site Constraints (EXAM 180)
The Council’s updated housing numbers do not reflect the real constraints on sites like SES29 and SES30, including required buffers, open space, utilities, flood zones and topography. This response challenges the assumptions behind the revised capacity figures.
👉 Download Response 3 (EXAM 180) - 4. Heritage Assets Not Assessed on Finchwell Road Site (EXAM 4Bi)
Key heritage issues - including the Roman road, recorded prehistoric features and nationally significant hedgerows - were not assessed when SES29 was proposed. This response explains why the evidence is incomplete and why the site should not be allocated.
👉 Download Response 4 (EXAM 4Bi) - 5. Why the Access Plan to Finchwell Cannot Work (EXAM 179)
The Finchwell site is undeliverable on transport grounds: EXAM 179 offers no real mitigation and the local network is already beyond capacity.
👉 Download Response 5 (EXAM 179) - 6. Removal of Green Belt designation from Middlewood Rovers Football Ground (EXAM 136a)
Sheffield City Council is proposing to remove Middlewood Rovers Football Ground on Waverley Lane from the Green Belt, raising concerns it could face future development despite being a long-established and well-used community sports facility.
