SOURCE AND METHOD NOTES: ORGREAVE LANE JUNCTION MAPS Save S13 Green Belt, checked 17 and 18 October 2026 https://saves13greenbelt.org.uk/orgreave-lane-junctions Page references are PDF page numbers. For EXAM 132G, the printed number is two less than the PDF page number. DOCUMENTS EXAM 132D: SYSTRA, Transport Assessment: Report on Local Road Network Impacts and Potential Mitigation, version 8, 23 May 2025. Table 5, pages 20 to 23, lists 56 local junctions. The text also gives 41 on page 15, paragraph 3.2.6. We found reported results for 55 junctions in Tables 6 to 8, pages 26 to 34. L-NW-6 and L-NW-7 share one results row; L-NE-42, Handsworth Rd / Richmond Rd, has no results row. These local tests exclude the city centre and Lower Don Valley (page 8, paragraph 1.3.4; page 12, Table 1). The strategic model has a 2016 base year (page 13, paragraph 3.1.2) and forecasts for 2029 and 2039 (page 6, paragraph 1.1.2). Table 5 marks 16 junctions as modelled in 2039 only. EXAM 132A: Report on the Strategic Road Network Impacts and Potential Mitigation. Paragraph 5.1.2, page 29, lists 14 strategic junctions. The references are from Table 9, page 32. M1 J32 and J35A have merge/diverge assessments rather than roundabout capacity tests (Tables 6 to 7, pages 24 to 25). M1 J34 North and South are excluded from this report's results (paragraph 5.1.3, page 31; page 44). The A616 / A628 junction was discounted (paragraph 5.1.4, page 31) and lies outside both maps. M1 J30 has a result in Table 10, page 34, although Table 9, page 32, says it was not included because the Local Plan's impact was negligible. The map treats a reported result as a reported result. EXAM 132G: Stantec, Lower Don Valley Additional Sites Modelling, 28 May 2025. The report models J34 with mitigation but publishes no junction results table for J34 North or South. The approximate hatched outline on our map was digitised from Figure 1 (PDF page 10) and checked against Figure 2 (PDF page 11). Modelled roads extend beyond that outline, including along the M1 and Mosborough Parkway. The hatching is not the full extent of every modelled road. LOCATING THE JUNCTIONS The Council's report does not provide coordinates. We matched road names to OpenStreetMap, queried on 17 October 2026. Shared road nodes were used where possible. Roundabouts use their centre; junctions with separate levels use a point at the centre of the interchange. Ambiguous names or placements are recorded in the CSV note column. The report's spelling and road numbers are retained, including L_NE_40, the '(tbc)' on L-NE-1, and B6066 on L-NE-2. Coordinates x and y use British National Grid (EPSG:27700). Latitude and longitude use WGS84. Distances are planar straight-line measurements in British National Grid, rather than driving distances. The seven map-table distances are rounded to the nearest ten metres. As a separate check we aligned EXAM 132D Figure 2 (page 24) using nine road-junction control points. A first-order affine fit gave a root mean square residual of 11.1 m; leaving each point out in turn gave 17.1 m. The source map's pixel size is about 20.3 m, and its junction dots are about 285 m across. These measures describe the source figure's alignment, rather than every junction's accuracy. CONFIDENCE High: one shared location, named roads within 30 m, no naming issue. Medium: within 30 m, but a naming issue, '(tbc)' or no Figure 2 dot. Low: ambiguous name, placement by judgement, or fails the 30 m check. Checked: a location reviewed by hand despite one of those issues. The local layer records 41 high, four medium, eight low and three checked. L-NE-1, L-NE-2 and L-NE-3 are the checked points. All junctions within three kilometres of SES29, in either layer, are high or checked. These are campaign confidence assessments, rather than Council ratings. ORGREAVE LANE AND THE PROPOSED ACCESS OSM ways named Orgreave Lane total 862 m. The B6065 portion runs between Handsworth Road / Retford Road and Rotherham Road / Highfield Lane; an unclassified portion continues east into Rotherham. No junction in either dataset has Orgreave Lane as an arm by name or position, and none is within 50 m of the mapped lane. Neither end is a junction with a reported test result in these two datasets. The nearest strategic junction is M1 J33, 2.9 km from the lane. The point for the proposed roundabout comes from EXAM 221, page 3, Pell Frischmann drawing 110798-PEF-ZZ-XX-SK-C-0001, revision P01, 'Indicative Roundabout Access'. It was placed at the drawing's scale and aligned to existing OSM roads. Its position is approximate, probably within about ten metres. It is not a surveyed coordinate. ALLOCATIONS AND THE WIDER MODEL SES29 uses the amended boundary in Consequential Changes to the Policies Map as a result of Proposed Further Main Modifications, page 5, map change 4. The two deleted areas were digitised from that map. SES30 uses the Policies Map boundary. The small reduction mentioned in EXAM 213, paragraph 16, page 6, is not shown. The transport documents checked (EXAM 132A, B, C, D and G) do not use SES29 or SES30 as names. EXAM 132A, Table 11, lists S03061, Handsworth Hall Farm, at 983 dwellings and 80,000 square metres of employment (page 38), and S03020, Bramley Lane / Beaver Hill Road, at 878 dwellings (page 37). The current figures are 870 homes and 20 hectares of employment land for SES29 (MM410, page 230) and an estimated 827 homes for SES30 (EXAM 213, paragraph 16, page 6; MM411, page 232). EXAM 132B, paragraph 5.2.4, page 34, describes assumptions about access where Council plans were unavailable. It does not identify the access junction assumed for Handsworth Hall Farm. The absence of a separately reported junction test does not mean that a road is absent from the wider strategic transport model. BASEMAP AND CREDITS Roads, rail, Orgreave Lane and the Sheffield outline on the junction maps are OpenStreetMap data. SES29 and SES30 are derived from Council Policies Map boundaries. Keep the OpenStreetMap, Council and Ordnance Survey credits on the published maps. The CSV files contain OpenStreetMap-derived coordinates and are offered under ODbL 1.0: see junction-data-licence.txt. The campaign's original cartography is offered under CC BY 4.0, subject to third-party rights. The underlying data remain subject to their own licences. An open redistribution licence for the Council boundary layers has not been confirmed; no licence to extract those layers is granted. Corrections: info@saves13greenbelt.org.uk
